“But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, ” Luke 6:35a
We are continuing our partnership with W.S. Greene School, and we will be collecting #2 pencils, blue and black pens, 24 count Crayola crayons, large pink erasers and enclosed pencil sharpeners to create homework bags. Collection bins will be available soon. Time to watch for back to school sales. :)
We are collecting Peanut butter - or other spread (sun-nut; almond butter) for the Food Pantry during the month of July.
Union Church is working on expanding outreach to our neighbors in Fall River and it takes everyone in the congregation to help reach as many people as possible. Please prayerfully consider your support for these activities:
Greater Fall River Food Pantry - 235 Nashua Street, Fall River, MA
The new food pantry is now open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10-12. Our congregation will once again be accepting donations of Sundays, so look for the bin. All canned goods, shelf stable foods, rice, pasta, peanut butter, etc or any other healthy items are needed. We also need someone from the congregation who would volunteer to take our donations to the pantry during the times they are open and act as our liaison from Union. Let Anita Taylor or Linda Nickelson know if you can help with delivery of our donations.
This organization is a non-profit group of volunteers that provide a mobile food pantry that travels to areas of need in Fall River. They strive to bring healthy food to the poorer neighborhooods. They also accept money and food donations, but to help their vision of fresh food, union will be planting part of the parsonage garden as a community garden to grow fresh produce for the pantry truck. Many hands make light work and if you would like to help plan, plant, tend, harvest or deliver, let us know! We are also taking small donations to help buy plants for the gardent.
We will be hosting the Overflow Shelter February 13-26, 2017. A sign up sheet has been posted on the bulletin board for volunteers to open the shelter in the evening at 6:30 pm and then volunteers to close up after they leave at 6:30 am.
We are looking for volunteers to provide a light supper each evening or snacks and some breakfast items which can be carried out each morning for the road, such as muffind, individually wrapped sncaks, etc. Home bakes goodies for the evening are really enjoyed and we have been asked not to serve pizza or donuts as they get these items very often. See Anita Taylor of Linda Nickelson for any questions! Join our shurch in offering hospitality fo these folks!
The Overflow Shelter is looking for personal care items such as small, hotel sized soaps, shampoos, and touthpaste. Other items such as toothbrushes and warm socks are also welcome. Bring any donations to the church.

We provided 5 Thanksgiving baskets to families at the W.S. Greene School. We will also created 7 more baskets. Thank you so much for your generosity.
Greene School Homework Supplies
Members of the Congregation filling homework bags.
Rev. Parent with the completed homework bags. 9/11/16
This is the 3rd year that Union have collected homework supplies for the students. These supplies are a vital and needed ministry as many of the students come from low income families or are homeless as well. Providing these simple tools allows the students to complete their homework and also provides the knowledge that they are a cherished part of our community.
We need the support of our entire congregation with prayers, supplies and time to put the bags together towards the end of the summer. Please keep this ministry in mind as you pass this year's sales while shopping and watch for more details throughout the summer.
"And the King will say 'I tell you the truth, when you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me,'" Matthew 25:40
In 2014 we began a Mission partnership with the W.S. Greene School in Fall River, MA.
During VBS 2014, we collected crayons, pencils, erasers and pencil sharpeners to create "homework bags" for students in Grades K-2. We were able to create 360 bags to start the students' year off right!
At Christmas, we again collected school supplies for students in grades 3-5. We were able to make an additional 360 bags to gift the students with!
The students were very appreciative and often mention that, "Mrs. Hajder's church gave us school stuff to do our homework with."
We are looking to continue this mission by providing classroom volunteers (all volunteers must fill out a CORI form with the school in order to participate). If you are interested see Rev. Peter, Laurie Cooper or any member of the Missions Team.
Thank you to all who once again provided homework supplies to the students at the Greene School. We were able to provide 810 homework bags for the children to start off the 2015-2016 school year!
Missions Theme Dinner

Thank you to all those who walked or sponsored walkers. We were able to raise $712 for our Good Samaritan Fund! Check out the Photo Album tab for pictures from this day.
